Commonly referred to as dark circles under the eye or under eye hollows, tear troughs are a groove that lies beneath the lower eyelid giving the face a tired and aged look.
Sometimes the tear trough is exacerbated by a puffy lower eye lid. Though the bagginess under the eye cannot be removed without surgery, filling the tear trough with a safe effective filler can dramatically reduce the dark circles and hollows and improve the cosmetic appearance of the bagginess creating a more refreshed and younger look around the eye area.
Simple filler injections get rid of dark circles or hollows under the eye.
Although not everyone is suitable for tear trough fillers, the majority of people will achieve a huge improvement in cosmetic appearance with simple placement of filler into the hollow under the eye.
Because the dark circle is caused prominently from shadowing in the tear trough, the filler not only improves the darkness but creates a more youthful look and in many cases effectively disguises puffiness or bagging under the eye.
Email us if you want to know more about specific products.
Frustratingly, with TGA regulations in Australia, it is illegal for us to name any cosmetic treatments on our website. They are class S4 medications to be administered by a Doctor or Nurse with training. They have approval for cosmetic use and established safety profile.

Radiesse treatment fixes a bump or dent in the nose, redefining a slack jawline, banishing wrinkles and crow’s feet, Radiesse seems to be doing the trick with no knife, sutures or downtime. It’s also proving to last longer than other fillers. Know more click here, read more about Radiesse Treatment

Dear Dr Turner,
I have been reading recently that a new dermo filler called Radiesse (formerly Radiance) is a much longer lasting product and as a result more cost effective. I have quite deep lines on my upper lip and also double smile lines about 3 inches long at the sides of my mouth that just keep on smiling even when I’m not! Do you use this particular filler on your clients and if so what sort of costs (ball park ) would I be looking at.?
Kind Regards
Fran.

Hello:
I am extremely interested in the various types of fillers that can be used effectively to reduce the signs of aging under the eyes. I have been told that Juvederm, Radiesse, Perlane and fat injections are some of the best choices for this procedures. Please advise. Thank you.

Hi Denise
Dr Victoria Timchik is our expert on tear troughs. She does a lot of the tear trough work and is very good at it and she exclusively uses one particular filler. I have emailed you the names of the filler because with law I cannot discuss this on the website.
The best thing would be to book in for a free consultation with Dr Timchik (we do complimentary full face rejuvenation consultations ) and she will assess what is happening around your eye area and be best placed to advised on the treatment options. Victoria works Thursday, Friday and every second Saturday if this makes it easier for you.
Call us on 33505447 to book a free consultation.

Hello, I came across your website and am interested in filler treatments under the eyes. Unfortunately I am located in Dubai. Are you able to provide the names of the filler and any contacts in Dubai, or UAE?
Besides, I have heard that many people didnt like the results of fillers, it caused lumps around the eye, permanent bruses, even darker skin color… so most people were unhappy with the results.
Please advise.
Many thanks

Please, can you e-mail to me a name of the filler which I can use ,as tear trough filler. Thank you very much.
Dr Joanne Turner responded on 10 Mar 2009 at 5:18 pm #
Hi Lena, I have emailed the name of the filler we use for for tear trough treatment. You are right you need to get a really experienced person as there can be complications with the tear trough filling, so you need to have someone who knows what they are doing. We have developed a bit of a niche in this area and have two injectors who are very competent and achieving fantastic results. I am sorry I do not have contacts for anyone closer to you whom I know does a good job with the tear troughs.

Could you please send me more information on the filler used on the tear trough area. Along with a ball park figure on how much the procedure will cost. Thank you
Dr Joanne Turner responded on 16 Mar 2009 at 5:28 pm #
Hi Elaine, I have also emailed the name of the filler used for tear troughs. The tear trough filling costs from $220- $660 and should be long lasting. The best thing is to come in for a free assessment then we can give a really accurate quote. There is no obligation with the consultation so call us on 33504625 if you are interested. regards Jo

Hello
I am wanting to eliminate and or improve the bags under my eyes that have sprung up in the last couple of years. I was told of a treatment called Fractional Laser and consulted a surgeon in Brisbane on this. Unfortunately I don’t have the time to take 5 days off every month for 3 months for these laser treatments. What would be the cost of a filler please and what is the down time?
Kind regards

Hi there,
I have used pretty much every eye creme that all promised the same. My dark circles are hereditary as I am of Maori descent and have olivey-brown skin. I am really looking for something that will assist with my dark circles as I work in the goldmine and always look tired or like I have been out drinking the night before, thankfully St Ives know that I don’t drink alcohol so don’t need to do randomn tests all the time. I am located in Kalgoorlie, WA but if you really think that this might be able to assist with my dark circles $660 dollars is a very small price to pay. Kind regards and have a great day, Look forward to hearing from you.
Dr Joanne Turner responded on 22 May 2009 at 11:27 pm #
Hi Rochelle,
Unfortunately NO eye creams will reduce dark circles despite what they promise. We would need to assess you to see if the dark circles were from pigmentation or from a tear trough. The former cannot be treated with fillers, but the dark circles from tear troughs in majority of cases can be cosmetically improved with a filler.
I have emailed details to you to find a clinic closer to home as we are only located in Brisbane. The first step is to go in for an assessment and find out your options and if fillers will help with your dark circles. I hope this has been of help. regards Jo

What determines the cost of the tear trough area. I have had this done twice, once with a really bad result which had to be reversed. The sucessful one after the injection was pressed into the eye area. the other was just injected under the muscle which left me with blobs that would not disappear. I am keen to try again but would like to know the protocol used.
Dr Joanne Turner responded on 26 May 2009 at 10:58 pm #
Hi Kay, Dr Timchik definitely uses the moulding massage technique rather than depositing a sausage of product. We give free consultations and there is no obligation, so the best thing would be to call us on 33505447 to book a free assessment at the outset. That way Dr Victoria can go through the techniques she uses. She works Thursday, Friday and every second Saturday at present.

which filler may be best for a 17 year old with really really dark and hollow eyes?
Dr Joanne Turner responded on 28 May 2009 at 11:05 pm #
Hi Lisa, as a rule we would wait until you are 18 before we would consider treatment of the dark circles and would need to assess you to say if this approach would solve the problem that concerns you. You can come in for a free assessment consultation now if you wish, then you will know your options for when you turn 18. Call us on 33505447 if you wish to book a free assessment consultation.

Hello,
I also have dark circles under the eyes because of hollow eyes. Can you please email me the filler that you are using? I was also reading that fillers have caused blindness. How dangerous are injectables?
Regards, Kate
Kate responded on 25 Jun 2009 at 12:00 am #
Is it safe to use when breastfeeding?
Dr Joanne Turner responded on 29 Jun 2009 at 8:25 am #
Hi Kate,
The filler we use to treat dark circles is a hyaluronic acid filler and it is very safe and definitely no incidence of blindness ever from this when treating dark circles or anywhere else on the face. We only use dermal fillers with a very high safety profile, these are temporary fillers (in the tear trough area we would expect they will last up to 2 years) There are some fillers on the market that have significant side effects, but the hylauronic acid fillers are very safe.
Not everyone is suitable for tear trough fillers, so the best thing is to come in for a free assessment consultation at the outset. Our resident expert Dr Victoria Timchik will assess you and determine if they are appropriate for you and be able to give accurate quotes and explain the whole process. Though they are safe to use while you are breast feeding, we generally do not recommend using dermal fillers while you are pregnant or breast feeding. However you can come in for the assessment now and we can discuss this with you.
The assessment is free and without obligation so call us on 33505447 to book a free consultation at the outset. Regards Jo

Hi - I have both hollows under my eyes and the skin appears pigmented. I’ve tried every cream on the market but nothing works. I’m assuming that fillers will hollow out the indentation.. can you let me know if there is a treatment also for the pigmentation? Or is the appearance of this reduce also with the application of the filler? thanks
Julia
Dr Joanne Turner responded on 21 Sep 2009 at 9:12 am #
Hi Julia, we would need to assess you to say for sure that you are suitable for filler treatment to the dark circles and tear troughs. But you are correct the fillers plump out the indentation and most of the time the appearance of the dark circle or pigmentation decreases with the same treatment. The best thing is to call us on 33505447 to book a free assessment and come in.
The creams gels, eyelifts in bottles do work for either the tear trough hollow or the dark circles however once we assess what is causing the pigmentation we will be able to give you a more informed opinion on how much the fillers will help with this. Jo

Hey, well here we go…I’m 19 years old and have always suffered with thin skin under the eyes which is discoloured a darker colour. i wear make up to cover it everyday but the rest of my skin is beautiful just under my eyes has a problem. I think it is genetic but I would like them gone asap because my self esteem has suffered tremendously as a result of dark circles. Is there any treatments? I know there is but I am very uneducated in this area and would like to know what is suitable for a 19 year old to do about this kind of problem. Thanking you
Dr Joanne Turner responded on 01 Oct 2009 at 8:09 pm #
Hi Jessikah, it is possible that tear trough fillers will help improve the cosmetic appearance of the dark circles, however we need to assess you to say if you are suitable for treatment with fillers. The best person to see is Dr Victoria Timchik as she is our resident expert in tear trough fillers. The assessment is free and without obligation so the best thing is to call us on 33505447 to book a free consultation at the outset.

Hi glad this problem is able to be fixed, hopefully! i am 55 going to my daughters wedding in the uk in Jan, i want the sad eye person gone by then, when does it look perfect?what is the down time of this procedure, what percentage goes wrong, bruising?? where is the medical office to come and get the assesment done? thank you for your time
Dr Joanne Turner responded on 07 Oct 2009 at 5:58 pm #
Hi Elizabeth, the best thing is to come in for a free consultation at the outset. We need to see you to say for sure that we can help and what is the best procedure. Generally the “sad eye look” comes from circles under the eyes, but flattening across the cheek area may be the underlying cause. So sometimes treating mid face is the best option. We are located at 688 Gympie Rd Chermside (North Brisbane). Dr Victoria Timchik is our resident expert on tear troughs so I would advise getting an appointment with her Thursday, Friday or Saturday. She will advise on the way to take away the sad look and be able to give optimum treatment time and accurate quote. Call us on 33504625 to book a free assessment consultation. Jo

I had filler put in my under eyes and had a reaction of some sort. I am concerned because I don’t want it to last. Is there anything that can make it wear off quick? Maybe laser?
Dr Joanne Turner responded on 19 Oct 2009 at 10:34 am #
Hi Kathy, I would go back to the clinic where you had the tear trough filler treatment. We have never seen a reaction to the fillers used in this way, and without seeing it could not offer any specific advise. I hope this has been of help. regards Jo

hey im fatima.
currently in dubai. i was wondering if there is any way i can get rid of the dark circles under my eye, i try my best to keep it stable but its not working. some say its because it runs in the blood, but im not sure. and i want something so i can get rid off it.
if you know of anything then please let me know, and also tell me which clinic will be the best one around that could help me out with this and remove the dark circles.
thankyou
Dr Joanne Turner responded on 09 Dec 2009 at 5:15 am #
Hi Fatima, the best way to treat dark circles under the eye is with dermal filler. I cannot recommend anyone specifically in Dubai, but you do need someone who is very experienced like our Dr Victoria Timchik, as this is one area that requires a high level of skill. If you contact some local clinics simply ask of there experience level with treating tear troughs. I hope this has been of some help. regards Jo
