Hello again Edith, the sundamage spots on the hands do tend to be inherited. However it depends on how much you inherited genetically from your mother, and how much from your father. The idea is prevention. Wear sunscreen every day in Australia, as it is minimal exsposure each day that adds up to cause the prematurely aged skin.

Hello,
I’m not sure if the spots I have can be classified as ‘liver spots’ because they don’t have the classical characteristics of size, symptoms & cause. The spots are few on the inside of my forearms, even fewer on the back of my hands, but mostly on the inside of upper thighs. I cannot agree with the cause being sun damage because it cannot explain well the appearances of the spots that are on my upper thighs. The spots are brown, darker than skin tone, irregular in shape and some of the spots can be felt to the touch. CAn you please tell me what I have and how I maight manage them? I was from humid Singapore all my life and now live in the dry climate of Western Australia since a year ago. Thank you
