Because the technology of laser hair removal is very powerful and potentially dangerous:
Complications that can occur if improperly applied range from pain, swelling and redness to blistering and worse there can be scarring and skin pigmentation or depigmentation.
For this reason it is wise to spend a little time finding a good clinic and not go for the cheapest option.

Please can you indicate if IPL for hair removal affects the reproductive organs at all, in the case of doing IPL on the bikini area. I am not pregnant but cannot find any studies or clinical trials that show it is of no harm.
Do you have any resources to confirm?
Regards,
Hayley

Hi Hayley, Intense pulsed light treatments uses light from the visible light range which only penetrates into the skin and not below this level so we would not expect that treatment of Bikini line for hair removal would have any impact on reproductive organs. You are right though I am not aware of any clinical studies on this AND pregnanacy is a contraindication to having IPL or intense pulsed light treatments, not because there is any known problem or belief that there will be a problem, but because it has never been studied. I hope this has been of some help. regards Jo
