The second step in a non-surgical face lift is filling: to address areas of deep lines, folds and sagging.

Reasonably constant once you have reached the age of 40 are: nasolabial folds, marionette lines and fine lines and wrinkles.

These are caused principally by collagen loss in the face, so treating them requires replacing volume with either dermal fillers or collagen regeneration treatments - “liquid facelift.”

This article discusses dermal fillers, and the following article addresses .collagen regeneration treatments or the “liquid facelift”.

Dermal Fillers step number 2 in non-surgical facelift Brisbane

Dermal fillers to plump out lines, wrinkles and folds.

Static wrinkles and folds develop with loss of collagen, elastin and other support structures for the skin of the face. With collagen loss the skin is less able to hold itself so sagging starts and wrinkles, lines and folds become constant. Dermal fillers are injected beneath the wrinkle or line to ‘fill in’ or ‘plump up’ the depression.

What can be treated with Dermal Fillers

The areas most commonly treated with dermal fillers:

  • Nasolabial Folds- the folds that run from the nose to the mouth can be filled to give a more youthful appearance.
  • Marionette Lines - the lines that run from the corner of the mouth to the chin- can be retored to get rid of ‘the sad look’ around the mouth by creating support and up turning of the mouth again.
  • In addition to plumping out of wrinkles and lines, injectable dermal fillers are also used for rejuvenation of lips, this is discussed in an article later in this series.

    Special considerations with Dermal fillers.

  • local anaesthetic cream and at times a local facial block is required.
  • The fillers give varying degrees of swelling and carry risk of bruising: for this reason they are best administered after work or going into a weekend, rather than a lunch time appointment. Certainly I would not advise these treatments before an important meeting, date or family function. (Not the morning of that new job interview for example).
  • When you discuss your plan for a non-surgical facelift your Doctor should consider these issues: so have your diary at hand.
