A Cosmetic Tattoo is the application of natural pigments into the dermal layer of the skin to create semi permanent makeup. Cosmetic tattooing is commonly referred to as permanent makeup, however the pigments fade over time (lasting 3-5 years) and reapplication is required to maintain the permanent makeup look.
Cosmetic tattooing is completely safe. Victoria our cosmetic tattooist uses only approved pigments, disposable single use application and follows strict health and safety regulations.
Cosmetic tattoos can be used for a variety of semi permanent cosmetic enhancements.
eyebrows
eye liner
lip liner
lip blend or lipstick colour
What is the difference between a cosmetic tattoo and traditional tattooing?
Besides the obvious that a cosmetic tattoo is a semi permanent enhancement of natural features rather than an artistic statement, the placement of pigment, the machine and type of pigment used are different.
Cosmetic tattooing involves using natural pigments, placed more superficially to create a softer less permanent enhancement.
Is a cosmetic tattoo painful?
Topical anaesthetic creams are used to make the procedure more comfortable. Because we have trained Medical and Nursing staff present at all times there is an option to have analgesic block for lip procedures. Victoria will discuss this with you at your free consultation.
How much downtime is there with a cosmetic tattoo?
There is slight reddness and swelling after the procedure, but this settles quickly. You can go back to normal activities immediedly although complete healing and settling takes one to four weeks. The final colour takes around 4 weeks to achieve and Victoria will see you for a check up 4 weeks post treatment. at that stage a touch up can be applied to refine the colour and shape if required.
Cosmetic tattooing with Victoria Berrigan
Our cosmetic tattooist, Victoria will spend time discussing what you want and though she will lend her professional opinion on the style, shape and colour to enhance your natural features, the choice is ultimately yours.Victoria specialises in:
Eyebrow tattoo
With a soft natural look: using ‘hair strokes’ technique you achieve a more natural eye brow look rather than the old ‘nikko pen’ look.
Eyeliner tattoo
With a smudged natural look to define the eyes subtly rather than a block of colour, though some people prefer thicker, more dramatic or exotic look. Shades to enhance eye colour and eyelash enhancement are also very popular.
Lip liner tattoo and lip blend tattoo
With a soft natural colour palette that looks as if ‘you haven’t got makeup on’. Although a bolder application is preferred by some.
