What Can Be Treated With Skin Peels?

A skin peel rejuvenates the skin making it feel smoother, fresher and more vital. At SkinRevision we are in love with peels because they give an instant lift to the look and feel of your skin.

Underlying many skin problems is a build-up of dead skin cells, making the skin dull in appearance causing enlargement of pores and accumlation of unwanted pigmentation. A skin peel loosens and removes the surface layers of dead skin, creating smoother softer skin and promoting more even pigmentation and some deeper skin firming effects.

What can be achieved with skin peels?

Peels are very versatile and can improve a number of skin problems by varying the cosmetic acid.

  • improved texture of dull sun damaged skins
  • fading of blotchy melasma pigmentation
  • unblocking of pores to assist clearing of acne and excessive oiliness
  • improving skin tone by fading sun spots and discolouration
  • refreshing aged wrinkled skin
  • “Skin peels have gained a deserved resurgence in cosmetic medicine. The old chemical peels penetrated deeply and caused considerable trauma, downtime and complications. Modern skin peels focus on very superficial layers of skin and achieve revitalisation without the downside”

What will a skin peel help?

  • Early sun damaged skin: stimulates collagen surface texture improves reducing fine wrinkles.
  • Acne : Salicylic acid peels are ideal to reduce congestion, blackheads, white heads and help clear pimples.
  • Melasma: a series of peels along with prescription creams can effectively fade this very difficult condition.
  • What problems skin peels do not address.

  • Deeper lines, folds, grooves: this is to to volume loss and require injectable treatment.
  • Sagging skin: facial peels do have some skin tightening but they are not a substitute for a facelift
  • Broken capillaries: these must be treated with IPL or laser.
  • Will only mildly improve some acne scarring: acne scarring is best treated with skin needling or superficial fillers.
  • Skin Peel Cost

Skin peels at SkinRevision costs $70- $90 per peel.

Face peels restore a more youthful look and feel to your skin.

A chemical face peel is a cosmetic treatment to remove dead skin cells and stimulate new cell growth. Face peels are popular to rejuvenate the skin and improve a number of skin concerns. Most commonly they are used for either anti-aging skin care or repair of sun damaged skin.

A face peel used restore more youthful skin.

Facial chemical peels restore a more youthful appearance by:

  • reducing appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • creating a smoother skin surface: removing scaly rough patches
  • restoring a more even skin colour: effectively reducing or removing unwanted skin pigmentation.
  • Chemical face peels: what type is best for your skin?

The type and number of peels required depend on your skin type and the concerns that need addressing. The degree of sun damage, skin pigmentation, enlarged or congested pores, skin ageing, or a tendency to acne determine what peel is best for your face.

    1. The best peels for pigmentation: AHA face peels such as glycolic or lactic acid are best for pigmentation. The lactic acid is more hydrating, making it a better choice for mature, dry skin affected by pigmentation. This can be combined with 100% ascorbic acid or vitamin C. Though not strictly a peel ascorbic acid has enormous skin lightening and brightening qualities.

    2. The best peels for acne: Salicylic acid or (BHA) peels are the best for acne. These peels are oil soluble and the only peels that can penetrate into pores to exfoliate, remove oil and unblock pores, clear acne and blackheads. They are also anti-inflammatory and help settle skin irritation. Once again for overall skin brightening they can be layered with vitamin C to give your skin a true boost.

    3. The best peels for sun damage: If surface roughness, texture problems or fine lines and wrinkles concern you glycolic or lactic acid peels the best choice to restore a more youthful glow.

    4. The best peels for congested enlarged pores: once again salicylic acid peels are the best.

Our peels can be layered: If you have a combination of problems we can individualise your treatment and layer solutions to address multiple concerns in one treatment.

It is best to book in for a free skin analysis to discuss your concerns and we can advise which face peel or combination will help your particular skin.

Chemical peels: to improve skin colour, texture and quality.

A modern chemical peel removes the surface layers of dead skin cells without traumatising the deeper skin layers. All peels have varying levels of resurfacing to induce collagen production, improve pigmentation, acne, sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, scarring and in general improve the look and feel of your skin.

Chemical Peel Brisbane:safely treat a number of skin concerns.

    What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel involves applying a solution to the skin to peel outer layers. This refreshes the skin to remove rough scaly patches, reduce pigmentation, settle acne and improve skin texture.

The solutions we use in cosmetic peels are familiar to most: AHA (glycolic and lactic acid), BHA (salicylic acid) and vitamin C. These cosmetic acids are used in varying strengths to rejuvenate sun damaged skin and pigmentation as well as clear acne.

At SkinRevision Brisbane we use four solutions, which can be layered to tailor the benefits of the peel for your skin type. We first analyse your skin to determine the best peel solution (or combination of peels solutions) for your skin concerns.

    Peels offered at SkinRevision

    1. Glycolic acid:(sugarcane sugar) A safe peel for pigmentation and sun damage, premature aging. Achieve a more even skin colour with smoother texture and quality.

    2. Lactic Acid (Milk sugar) A hydrating peel that is excellent for pigmentation as well as restoring moisture to mature sun damaged skin with fine lines and roughness. This is a favourite especially combined with 100% vitamin C.

    3. BHA/Salicylic acid peel: because it is oil soluble this peel is ideal for anyone who has congested skin. Used to enhance acne settling, clear blackheads, white heads and enlarged pores. Salicylic acid peels can be combined with extractions or alternated with microdermabrasion. Once again combining with vitamin C gives your skin a boost.

    4. 100% vitamin C, though not strictly a peel, this is a potent skin lightener and skin brightener. It can be used in combination with microdermabrasion, on its own or combined with the above peels
