Pimples are very common: Reported in the Medical Journal of Australia by Dr Greg Goodman
Acne and acne scarring: why should we treat? The incidence of acne is:

  • 95%-100% 16-17-year-old boys
  • 83%-85% in 16-17-year-old girls.
  • Usually it is self limiting and the acne lesions and pimples will resolve themselves eventually however:

  • 1% of men and 5% of women still bear acne lesions at 40 years of age.
  • Pimples should be treated early to prevent scarring

Why Treat Pimples If They Resolve Themselves?

  • Pimples do not look good and they do not feel good.
  • Affected teenagers hate them: it makes them feel self conscious, embarrassed, unhappy and anxious.
  • The other major reason: risk of scarring.

  • if left untreated scarring may affect up to 95% of people with pimples.
  • Acne Scarring Is Preventable

The treatment of acne is medical, and requires the best and most effective combination of treatments to ensure risk of acne scarring is kept to a minimum.
