Acne Scar Treatment: The Use Of Skin Needling

Skin Needling is a treatment option for depressed Acne Scars. This treatment involves use of a skin roller to create multiple punctures into the skin. This controlled injury attempts to stimulate collagen growth under the area of scarring with the aim of improving the surface appearance of the skin.

Skin needling will not eliminate acne scars entirely but a treatment course with skin needling can improve the cosmetic appearance of the skin.

Some Information On Skin Needling.

  • A series of treatments is required.
  • The results from the first treatment generally take 6 weeks to be seen.
  • The degree of improvement varies between individuals and there is no way of determining this prior to starting treatment.
  • There are other treatments available to treat the appearance of acne scars including traditional laser and fractional laser treatments.
